Wellness promotion science is an academic field
involving research into theories and methods based in science,
for the maintenance and promotion of human wellness.
Article 1
These Regulations are based on the provisions of Article 8, Paragraph 3 of the Kanazawa University Statutes. They set down the necessary matters relating to the Wellness Promotion Science Center, Institute of Medical, Pharmaceutical and Health Sciences, Kanazawa University (hereafter ‘The Center’).
Article 2
The aim of the Center is to contribute to a lengthening of the healthy life expectancy of the people as a research facility attached to Institute of Medical, Pharmaceutical and Health Sciences, Kanazawa University (hereafter ‘The Institute’). For this purpose, the Center establishes a new academic field that goes beyond disease prevention and focuses on promotion of wellness, and forms a base for the education and research in this field, thus providing health indices to support healthy activities among the people, in addition to communicating its know-how of wellness promotion and educating promising individuals.
Article 3
1 The Center shall set up the following departments.
(1) Department of Advanced Skin Care
(2) Department of Societal Partnerships
2 Each Department shall have a Head of Department.
Article 4
The following staff shall be appointed in the Center.
(1) Director of Center
(2) Teaching Staff for the Center (including in-house part-time teachers and specially appointed teachers)
(3) Researchers
(4) Other staff as necessary
Article 5
Visiting Professors and Visiting Associate Professors may be appointed in the Center.
Article 6
The Director of Center may, if he/she deems it necessary for research purposes, commission the services of Research Associates who hold key roles at locations other than Kanazawa University.
Article 7
1 The Director of Center shall be a full-time professor or adjunct professor of the Center.
2 The Director of Center shall oversee the management and operation of the Center.
3 The term of appointment for the Director of Center shall be two (2) years, with reappointment allowed.
4 The term of appointment for a substitute Director of Center when necessary, shall be the remaining term of appointment of the previous Director of Center.
Article 8
The selection of Center Teaching Staff shall be specified elsewhere.
Article 9
1 A Governing Council for the Wellness Promotion Science Center (hereafter ‘Governing Council’) shall be established.
2 The Governing Council shall deliberate on the following matters.
(1) Matters relating to the basic principles for operating the Center
(2) Matters relating to the selection of Center teaching staff
(3) Matters relating to the Center budget and budget allocation requests
(4) Matters relating to the establishment of medium-term goals, medium-term plans and annual plans for the Center, as well as the compilation of business reports relating to medium-term goals
(5) Other matters deemed necessary by the Dean of Institute of Medical, Pharmaceutical and Health Sciences (hereafter ‘Dean of the Institute’)
Article 10
The Governing Council shall comprise of the following members.
(1) Dean of the Institute
(2) Dean of the Graduate School of Medical Sciences
(3) A chair or chairs of the Institute chosen by the Dean of the Institute
(4) Director of the Center
(5) Head of each Department
(6) Other persons deemed necessary by the Governing Council
Article 11
1 A Chairperson shall be appointed for the Governing Council, and it shall be the Dean of the Institute.
2 The Chairperson shall preside over the Governing Council.
3 If the Chairperson is incapacitated, the duties for Chairperson shall be carried out by a person named by the Chairperson in advance.
Article 12
1 If the majority of its members are not present, the Governing Council may not hold a meeting or vote on any matters.
2 Items on the agenda shall be decided with the majority vote of those members present. In the event that votes are even, the Chairperson shall hold the deciding vote.
Article 13
When deemed necessary, the Governing Council may allow the attendance of persons other than members, and the opinions of these persons may be sought.
Article 14
1 A Wellness Promotion Science Center Council (hereafter ‘Center Council’) shall be established in the Center.
2 The Center Council shall hold discussions on the following matters.
(1) Matters relating to Center operation
(2) Matters relating to specific activities of the Center
(3) Matters relating to Center education or research
(4) Matters relating to medium-term goals, medium-term plans and annual plans for the Center
(5) Other matters deemed necessary by the Director of the Center
Article 15
The Center Council shall comprise of the following members.
(1) Director of the Center
(2) Head of each Department
(3) Teaching staff from each Department
(4) Other persons deemed necessary by the Center Council
Article 16
1 A Chairperson shall be appointed for the Center Council, and it shall be the Director of the Center.
2 The Chairperson shall preside over the Center Council.

Article 17
1 If the majority of its members are not present, the Center Council may not hold a meeting or vote on any matters.

Article 18

Article 19
For important matters related to Center operation, the Dean of the Institute shall pass these matters through the Board of Representatives for the Education and Research Council for Medical, Pharmaceutical and Health.
Article 20
In addition to the provisions of these Regulations, other necessary matters relating to the Center shall be separately stipulated.
Supplementary Provision
These Regulations shall come into effect from the 8th of April 2009, and be applied from the 1st of April 2009.

These Regulations shall come into effect from the 16th of July 2010.

These Regulations shall come into effect from the 9th of October 2013, and be applied from the 1st of April 2013.
